ScopeTronix ST Series Plössls
A stellar combination of price and performance

40mm / 32mm / 25mm / 15mm / 9mm / 6mm / 4mm

Fully coated optics, flip down rubber eyeguards, and threaded for filters.
The image above gives you an idea of the field of view and eye relief. As with all eyepieces the lower numerical mm eyepieces will give higher power, but at the expense of actual field of view and eye relief. The 40mm gives wide field views while the 4mm would be reserved for maximum magnification on only the clearest of nights and on brighter objects.
Apparent Field Of View (AFOV):
4mm to 25mm Eyepieces = 52°
32mm and 40mm Eyepieces = 44°

Each ST Series Plössl comes with its own Bolt-style Eyepiece Bottle!
See Weasner's Mighty ETX Site for an independent review of the 40mm Plössl.

ScopeTronix MaxView™ Wide Angle Eyepieces
for Nikon 800/900/950/990/995/4500

These fully multicoated wide angle eyepieces give superb contrasty views visually or through a digital camera. Designed specifically for Nikon cameras with 28mm threaded lenses they also perform well on many others. Available in two sizes, 14mm and 18mm. The 14mm uses a 5 element/4 group optical arrangement and the 18mm uses a 4 element/3 group optical arrangement. The wide AFOV of 66.2° is normally only found in eyepieces costing over twice as much. The fold down rubber eyecup and 19mm of eye relief provide comfortable viewing, even with glasses. The MaxView™ Wide Angle Eyepiece is supplied in a bolt-style storage bottle.

To use the MaxView™ Wide Angle Eyepiece as a Nikon digital camera adapter simply unthread the eyeguard to reveal the integral 28mm Nikon thread. This thread will screw directly into many Nikon cameras such as the 800/900/990/995/4500 and many more with the proper adapter (such as Nikon 880/885/5000, and Sony 37mm cameras and camcorders).

Once threaded into the camera you simply insert it into the scope. The eyepiece will fit any standard 1.25" eyepiece port. In tests with the Nikon 995 there was virtually no vignetting thoughout the entire zoom range of the camera. In all of our experience in this field we have tested no other arrangement that could achieve this level of performance.

Comparison of the "other" (left) and the ScopeTronix MaxView™ WA 14mm Eyepiece (right) at full wide angle.
Other similar products require you to zoom the camera to 2X to eliminate vignetting. By contrast our MaxView™ WA eyepieces give you a non-vignetted image even at the full wide angle zoom position. Thus they offer a much wider true field of view even though they are higher power! The comparison pictures above were taken with a Nikon 995 and TeleVue-85 scope.
Let's look at an example with a 1000mm focal length telescope and a camera with a 3X optical zoom. The "other" 24mm eyepiece that requires you to zoom to 2X will have a minimum usable power of 83X and a maximum usable power of 124X. That's a spread of only 41X. By contrast our 18mm WA eyepiece offers a minimum usable power of 55X and a maximum of 166X, a spread of 111X! Our 14mm version would be 71X to214X, a spread of 143X! If you have a 4X zoom the numbers are even more impressive. Aside from the vignetting issue the MaxView™ WA eyepieces offer a much wider AFOV, and a flatter field with more even illumination across the CCD chip.
Even if these 66+ degree AFOV eyepieces are only used visually they compare favorably to eyepieces that cost twice the price, whereas visually the competition is just a duplication of a mid power Plössl you probably already own. Worth a few bucks more? You decide...

ScopeTronix 7-21mm Zoom Eyepiece / Adapter
You don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent zoom eyepiece. The ScopeTronix 1.25" zoom eyepiece features fully multicoated optics, a flip down rubber eyeguard, and is threaded for filters. The zoom ranges from 7mm to 21mm and it is near parfocal throughout the zoom range. We offer a 28mm digital camera adapter for use with many Nikon Cameras such as the 800/900/990/995/4500. The adapter is attached by simply pulling off the rubber eyeguard, slipping on the adapter and tightening 3 thumbscrews. We also offer adapters to allow use with other cameras such as the Nikon 880/885/5000, and 37mm Sonys. The Adapter/Eyepiece combination is then threaded directly into the camera. Some cameras may require a lens tube (Nikon 800/880/5000), or 37mm adapter ring (most 37mm Sony). Please note that Zoom eyepieces are somewhat of a compromise when used with digital cameras. They are convenient but if you want the highest possible picture quality with the least vignetting we suggest you look at our MaxView Wide Angle 14 & 18mm Eyepieces. Please call for adapters for other Nikon Cameras.

ScopeTronix MaxView 40™
*Patent Pending*
Eyepiece & Variable Projection Adapter for Digital Cameras

The MaxView 40 is a unique fully multi-coated eyepiece and variable projection camera adapter all in one. For use as an eyepiece the eyeguard can be set to any height allowing for matching the eye relief to your eye for more comfortable viewing. In the left picture the threaded eyeguard has been removed revealing the integral "T" thread on the top of the eyepiece. The picture on the right shows how the outer sleeve can be adjusted up or down to the optimum setting to minimize vignetting for your particular camera. While it is useful for both film and digital cameras it is specifically designed to help minimize vignetting in digital cameras with larger lenses such as the Minolta DiMAGE 5/7/A1/Z1, Sony DSC-F505/707/717/828/V1, Olympus 2xxx/3xxx/4xxx/5xxx, Canon G1/G2/G3/G5, Nikon Coolpix 5400/5700/8700, and many more.

The picture on the left shows just how close the lens is to the top of the eyepiece when the sleeve is in its lowest position. This is very important as many digital cameras vignette the least when everything is coupled as closely as possible. The picture on the right shows the MaxView 40 coupled (using a step ring) to the Olympus 2100 Ultrazoom. The MavView 40 is "T" threaded so you will need the proper step ring to mate it to your camera. We carry a large selection of step rings to fit most film and digital cameras. The MaxView 40 is a 1.25" eyepiece and offers the largest possible diameter lens that can fit through a "T" thread.

Meade 26mm Super Plössl (left) and ScopeTronix MaxView 40 (right)
The two pictures above were taken through an Olympus 2100 Ultrazoom digital camera attached to a TeleVue-76 spotting scope. The subject was about 150 yards away. The picture on the left was taken through a Meade 26mm Super Plössl. Even though it was closely coupled with a Digi-T Ring it shows significant vignetting caused by the smaller lens and recessed lens design used in this eyepiece. The right picture was taken through the MaxView 40. Vignetting may not be eliminated on all cameras but the difference will always be substantial. Remember that while this is a low power eyepiece you will typically be operating your camera at or near its maximum zoom which greatly increases the magnification. You can also use the MaxPower lens before the eyepiece to further increase power. Generally reaching high power with a digital camera is easy, getting a wide field is the hard part!

Please note that if you do not already have the neccessary Digi-T™ System for your
camera, you will need to purchase the appropriate Attachment Kit or step ring.
Attachment Kits do not contain the Digi-T Ring that comes in the Digi-T™ System since
the MaxView™ 40 already has an integral "T" thread.
