ScopeTronix Flexi-Focus™

    This unique product solves two common ETX problems! It allows you to focus without the jitters and allows you to easily reach the focus knob even when the OTA is parallel with the forks! Since the new ETX-60AT & 70AT operates in Alt-Az mode there is a very large portion of the sky overhead where you can't reach the focus knob when viewing (unless you have fingers like chopsticks!). Don't let its extreme flexibility worry you, focus control remains fine and crisp with no backlash or rubbery feeling, the flexible shaft is extremely rigid on its rotational axis and provides excellent focus control. JMB Identiview Solar Filters

    JMB Identiview filters are high quality glass filters. We carry only the Class "A" filters which are coated with a highly scratch resistant layer of steel. They are a little less expensive, they also include a cleaning cloth. They are also guaranteed for as long as you own them. With these filters the Sun is presented in a pleasing natural color. We have carried these filters for some time now and I am very pleased with the quality, construction, and consistency of the coatings.

    Typical of most astronomical telescopes, images through the ETX-60AT and ETX-70AT appear right-side-up but reversed left-for-right. For astronomical viewing this orientation is of no consequence. However, for terrestrial observing, where a fully correctly oriented image is desirable, the #933 45° Erecting Prism threads on to the telescope's rear cell and accepts an eyepiece of any focal length.

    Inserted into the ETX60AT or 70AT's eyepiece holder, this Barlow lens triples the power obtained when compared to using the same eyepiece alone. The Barlow lens incorporates a two element optical design for high-resolution, color-corrected imaging.

    Meade #3200 Lunar & Planetary Color Filter Set: Meade optical glass color filters increase image contrast and resolution on the Moon and planets and reduce glare of the full or near-full Moon. The #3200 Set includes red, yellow, blue, and neutral density filters. Each filter threads into the barrels of all Meade MA, PL, and WA eyepieces and is packed in a separate plastic case for secure storage.

    For photography with the ETX-60AT & 70AT models the #64ST Photo Adapter (T-Adapter) is used, it attaches to the rear port of the ETX (see 1 in photo). A T-Ring (2 in photo) for your brand of 35mm camera is then threaded onto the #64ST (1 in photo). The telescope thus becomes a 350mm telephoto lens for photography of the Moon, planets, or terrestrial objects.

    Item requires a T-Ring for use with your particular brand of 35mm camera. The #64ST T-Adapter threads onto the rear port of the ETX, the T-Ring then threads onto the T-Adapter. the T-Ring also attaches to the lens mount of your 35mm camera. T-Rings are available on our (Camera Adapters & T-Rings) page.

   This "piggyback" camera mount will allow you to piggyback a 35mm camera on your ETX-60AT or 70AT. This will let you to take short exposure unguided shots and long exposure guided shots (by guiding through the main tube). This is the best way to get into astrophotography. Since wide field low power shots are very forgiving to tracking errors, and you can get some great images of extended objects like M31, M42, etc. For longer exposures you should use an illuminated reticle crosshair eyepiece to guide the scope by making minute corrections while keeping a star centered in the crosshair. If you don't own an illuminated reticle eyepiece you can do it the poor mans way, just defocus the star image until it just about fills the eyepiece view, then just keep the "donut" centered! Constructed of high quality steel with a durable black powder coat finish. The inside is well padded to prevent marring that pretty ETX tube! Camera mounting is via a standard 1/4-20 camera thumbscrew. Includes a set of 4 counterweights as shown. 

    The Meade AstroFinder celestial software displays over 10,000 astronomical objects -- galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, stars, and planets -- on your (Windows-based) PC, enabling even the beginner to locate and identify objects to observe with the telescope or to print out star charts for use in observing sessions. The Cable Connector Kit (not shown, but included with each AstroFinder Software package) permits connection of the ETX-60AT & 70AT, Autostar, and PC, for downloading of new software to Autostar or for updating of Earth satellite or other celestial object positions.
