ScopeTronix 1.25" Moon Filter

ScopeTronix 1.25" Color Filter Set

   The ScopeTronix filter set is an ideal color filter starter set. It includes four of the most popular filters for planetary use in a handy storage case. These 1.25” filters thread into the bottom of any standard 1.25” eyepiece. Includes colors; Red #23A, Green #58A, Blue 80A, Yellow #12.

    Meade #3200 Lunar & Planetary Color Filter Set: Meade optical glass color filters increase image contrast and resolution on the Moon and planets and reduce glare of the full or near-full Moon. The #3200 Set includes red, yellow, blue, and neutral density filters. Each filter threads into the barrels of all Meade MA, PL, and WA eyepieces and is packed in a separate plastic case for secure storage.

    The #905 system includes two polarizer filters mounted in a specially machined cell. It's designed for glare reduction when observing the moon. Rotate the thumbscrew on the side of the unit to achieve light transmission between 5% and 25% of its original value. When used in combination with a diagonal prism the polarizer is inserted into the diagonal, followed by the eyepiece. Note: The #905 will not reach focus in the ETX60/70 or most newtonian scopes.

#1A Skylight Filter/Dust Seal

   The #1A Skylight Filter threads onto the rear cell of all Meade LX-Series telescopes and effectively seals the interior of the telescope from dust. All other rear cell accessories may then be threaded to the #1A filter. The filter increases visual and photographic contrast, decreases glare, and helps to penetrate haze.

Celestron Filter Sets

   Eyepiece filters are an invaluable aid in lunar and planetary observing. They reduce glare and light scattering, increase contrast through selective filtration, increase definition and resolution, reduce irradiation and lessen eye fatigue. Celestron's filters are made of high quality, solid plane parallel glass with excellent homogeneity. They're anti-reflection coated to prevent glaring and ghosting. All eyepiece filters are threaded to fit Celestron's, and most other manufacturer's, 1.25" eyepieces, and offer a full 26mm clear aperture.

   Celestron color filters are mounted in black anodized aluminum cells with the Kodak Wratten Series Number individually engraved, and come available in 4 assorted kits packed in plastic cases. The cells of each filter are double-threaded, so they can be stacked (piggybacked) in various combinations. This allows you to create different color combinations and transmission characteristics, or to have the same color characteristic, but with a lower transmission. When stacking color filters, the effective transmission of the combination you create is equal to the product of the spectral transmission of each of the filters used.

   The effectiveness of the filters depends on several factors, including: the aperture and focal length of the telescope, the magnification being used, and seeing conditions.
