NEW RETURN POLICY
In the interest of 100% customer satisfaction ScopeTronix is instituting a new return policy. It is the best, most liberal return policy in the industry. "If for ANY reason you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase from ScopeTronix Astronomy Products simply return the item to us in new condition with all original packaging and materials within 30 Days of receipt for a cheerful no questions asked refund (-shipping)."
BUT PLEASE read the following very important information...
Please Note: We accept returns only on items purchased directly from ScopeTronix, Inc. Any items purchased through an independent dealer must be returned through the same dealer.
Please understand that this return policy is very expensive for us to implement as returned telescopes even when in new condition must invariably be sold at a discount as an "open box" product. We also lose 6% or more of the cost of the sale in credit card charges (3% each way). This means that the return of a $3500 telescope will likely cost us about $500 after the lost credit card charges, and the effort required to resell the scope at a discount. In most cases we are lucky if we made $200 on the telescope in the first place (despite what many think, the margins on telescopes are miniscule). That is why you don't see ANY other multi-line dealer offering this. In light of this we ask that you please use due care and diligence to be certain that you want the product you are ordering. Ask us for any information or help you may need before the sale, make an effort to see the product in use at a local star party, and be sure your finances are able to handle the purchase. We understand that regardless of the effort you may make in researching a product sometimes you just may not be happy with it, and this is why we want to stand behind you 100%. However if we are repeatedly just taken advantage of and used as a telescope loaner service we will have no choice but to revert to a more strict return policy in the future. If you are planning on exchanging the item towards another then please allow us to issue you a full or partial store credit rather than a refund. That way we don't lose all those credit card charges just to get charged them again on the new purchase. We don't require it, but we do greatly appreciate it and it helps keep the costs down for all of us. Please also note that this return policy requires that the product be returned to us in new condition so that we can resell the item as a "new open box special". If the item shows signs of use, or abuse there may be a restocking fee assessed. We don't want to do this and in most cases will only apply a restocking charge when in our judgment the item has been unnecessarily damaged. The type of damage we are talking about is damage due to not carefully assembling, using, or disassembling the product and most importantly to careless packaging. Almost every day we receive back an eyepiece or such in its original box just thrown into a tyvek envelope. By the time it reaches us the original eyepiece packaging (if not the eyepiece itself) is destroyed. This is just disrespectful, careless and needless. We would never ship you an item like that. Return the item with the same care we used to ship the item to you. Never send the item back in its original package unless we shipped it to you that way, always double box and pack with bubble wrap or such as needed to assure a safe return trip. If it arrives damaged due to poor packing you WILL be charged a restocking fee to cover our charges of selling the item with no packaging, or possibly even the full cost of the item itself if it arrives too damaged to resell. We also will not issue a refund if we do not receive the product back, please insure anything you wouldn't want to lose. This return policy does not apply to items sold on our clearance page or through other channels such as our Ebay outlet. The return policies posted there will override this policy. It also does not apply to ScopeTronix products purchased from another dealer or to Special Orders. We only handle returns on products directly purchased from us. So think of this as the respect us and we'll stand behind you 100% guarantee ; ) If you receive a defective item don't send it back just yet...in many cases we will send a new item with prepaid packaging for return of the defective item, or make other arrangements with the manufacturer to resolve the problem with the least aggravation to you. Sometimes the instructions may just be unclear and the item is not defective. So give us a call if you think you have received a defective item and we will work with you to resolve it as quickly and easily as possible.

Any information provided to us will be used solely to complete the transaction requested. Your name or other information will not be given out, sold, or used in any other way. We do not send any automated unsolicited email. We at ScopeTronix feel personal privacy is extremely important and will always work to protect yours.
You can place your order online using our shopping cart buttons and the secure order form, or by telephone, fax, or mail. Please don't send credit card information by email as that is not a secure form of transmission. If you are placing your order by mail or fax, we recommend you send a copy (without credit card info) by email so that we can notify you if your actual order is not received. Online orders will be confirmed via automated email. There will be no manual confirmation unless requested by a separate email. Please refrain from checking on the status of an order until a reasonable time has passed and the item has not been received. You will be notified if an item will normally be notified within two business day if an item will not ship within 48 hours due to availability. Please use care when entering your shipping address. If you enter an incorrect address and FedEx or UPS needs to correct it there will be a $10 charge for the correction (this is what they charge us for corrections). Please make sure your email address and phone number are accurate or your order may be delayed. If your email bounces your order will be delayed. Sorry, no COD shipping. Mail payments can be made by personal check, credit card, or money order. Checks must clear before shipment. For all credit card orders we will need your cards listed billing address if it is different than your shipping address (for verification). If we don't have your proper billing address (this is the address your credit card bill comes to) your order will be delayed or voided. Please use the item numbers listed on the website to insure accuracy. All website shipping quotes are for US orders only and are estimated, additional shipping charges may be assessed as needed to cover the actual cost of packaging and shipping. In most cases shipping will be less than indicated for multiple item orders shipping in the same box. We ship worldwide to most locations (except telescopes, cases, and tripods), just ask for a shipping quote! Florida residents must add sales tax.
Although most orders received by Noon ET will ship the same day, orders may take up to two business days to process and ship during times of high volume. No shipping is done on weekends.
Our shipping charge policy is to try to reflect our actual shipping costs. We are not out to make money on shipping (like many other places), we just want to charge what is fair and break even. But please note shipping charges do include more than just the postage charge: Shipping/handling charges are to cover our actual costs of postage, fuel surcharges, delivery confirmation, signature returns, insurance, boxes, packing materials, packing room floor space, employee salaries to pack, address, and deliver the packages to the local depot when necessary. We try to be as fair as possible without losing money and have some of the fastest and lowest cost shipping in the industry. Most US shipping of packages that weigh less than 5 lbs and have a dimensional weight less than 5 lbs. will ship via Federal Express 3 Day Express shipping. Large/heavy items will be shipped via FedEx ground. Next Day, and 2 Day service is available, but this can be very expensive on a large or heavy item, please ask for a quote. Orders to PO Boxes and APO address will in most cases be shipped by Priority Mail. The minimum shipping and handling charge is $8 for up to 1 lb via FedEx. This will cover most shipments within the US of most individual and multiple items up to a weight of 1 lb. (including packaging materials). Additional shipping charges will apply if the combined weight is over 1 lb or the value is over $100 (to include a minimal insurance charge at the normal carrier insurance rate). Most shipments with a weight/dimensional weight over 5lbs will (at our discretion) be shipped by FedEx ground. All orders will require a signature upon arrival. The carrier will leave a note on your door if you are not home. Let us know if it is necessary to ship the package to your work or some other location for a signature. If you request that we ship without a signature required you agree that standard delivery confirmation will constitute proof of delivery. We will not be responsible for missing orders if you request no signature required. Signatures releases are at our discretion and will only be approved for repeat customers. FedEx also reserves the right to not leave a package in a place without a signature if they feel it is not safe to do so. This is a FedEx policy and we have no say over it. If you want a "to the penny" shipping quote email us with all items to be ordered and the exact address to be shipped to and we will reply within 24 hours. Please do not give special shipping instructions in your order such as; "Leave the box under the 3rd bush on the left side of house" as we have no way of communicating special delivery instructions to the delivery driver, the instructions will be deleted from the order. Invariably every Christmas we have people ordering stuff by Overnight shipping when the airports used by FedEx are snowed in. The package arrives late and the person wants a shipping refund. FedEx DOES NOT refund shipping charges due to weather delays, so please don't ask us to. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY SHIPPING CHARGES BE REFUNDED.

All indicated shipping prices are for the lower 48 US only, inquire about our low worldwide shipping rates. Be sure to let us know what it is you plan on buying and the full address to be shipped to for an accurate international shipping quote. We do not prepay any VAT, taxes, import duties, or fees. The package will arrive with these amounts due. If the package is returned because you refused to pay the import taxes, duties, etc, (or for any other reason) you will be billed for all costs involved for the safe return of our goods. Minimum export shipping charge will be $15. Orders shipped by FedEx, or orders shipped to countries that require substantial import documentation will be assessed a $10 documentation fee.
Please Note: Any shipping times quoted are the normal transit times quoted by the carrier in question. These times may be longer than expected during peak shipping times such as around the holidays, or during weather delays. The times quoted are TRANSIT times only. In addition to transit times there will be additional time for the customs agency in your country to inspect and import the package. We have absolutely no control over customs. We WILL NOT replace a package or issue a refund for a package held in customs for inspection. In very rare cases this can take up to 12 weeks (in most normal cases the actual time is 1-2 days). We will not consider a package lost until at least 12 weeks have elapsed and a proper postal/carrier investigation is complete. We highly recommend shipping by FedEx International service as they seem to get packages reliably through customs in a relatively short time frame, in addition these services offer up to the minute tracking. We understand that this service can be cost prohibitive on some smaller orders and will ship via USPS Airmail/USPS Express Mail if requested. However airmail packages often spend much more time in customs, please make sure you completely understand and agree to our policy above before requesting international shipping. In most cases USPS Express is about the same cost as regular Airmail (after insurance is added) and it usually arrives much sooner, so in most cases that require insurance we will ship by USPS Express automatically. If your ship quote is less than $35 for an international order we will automatically ship the order, we will not wait for a quote approval.
Special Note for USPS Parcels: USPS Parcels fly on commercial airliners. Due to the new security procedures following the 9/11 events all airmail and express mail has been delayed considerably, please be patient if you order is shipped using these methods. Also due to the new rules we have to hand deliver the packages to the post office. Since this often entails an hour long wait in line we only go to the post office once a worthwhile number of packages have accumulated (typically 2 or 3 times a week.).
We do not ship to the following countries due to either international law or the high rate of credit card fraud we have experienced. All shipping is at our discretion and we reserve the right to decline any order or any portion of an order to any country: Afghanistan, Czech Republic, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Libya, Serbia, Sudan, Romania, Indonesia, Singapore, Hungary, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Nigeria, Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Russia, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Venezuela, Vietnam.The only exception is that we will ship to US troops at an APO address.
Sales Tax
In most cases we only collect sales tax on sales shipping from ScopeTronix to an address in Florida. However, please note that there are certain exceptions for items being drop shipped. For example if you order a telescope which is being drop shipped from Meade (scopes over 10" & LXD series are always drop ships from any dealer, unless they are a local pickup) and you live in California you will be charged sales tax because the item is shipping from and to California. Meade charges us the tax and we in turn must collect it from you. This is not a ScopeTronix policy, it is the law and all dealers must abide by it. The same thing applies to other manufacturers when drop shipping an item to their home state.
Product Availability
More than 98% of our orders are shipped within 24 hours of receipt. Many the same day. If your order will not ship within 48 hours due to an availability problem we will notify you. Please refrain from checking on an orders status until a reasonable time period has passed and the item has not been received. We have been spending an inordinate amount of time fielding phone calls and emails on orders that couldn't possibly have reached the purchaser yet no matter how fast we processed them. If you do not receive your order in a reasonable time (up to 6 business days for FedEx ground shipping time allowance to the west coast + 24 hour order processing time) please feel free to email or call us. We try our best to keep all items shown on the web page in stock at all times, however backorders from vendors do occur. In the event that an individual item is backordered we will pay the shipping on the backordered item if that item would normally have shipped with the rest of your order at the same cost. If it is a large item that would have cost additional to ship in the first place then shipping will be charged. Backorders are automatic and will be shipped as soon as they are received. Pre-Orders for a soon to be released product are not the same as a backorder. Pre-Orders are charged shipping unless otherwise stated. Pre-Orders will always be identified as such on our website. If you wish to cancel a backordered/Pre-Ordered item please let us know as soon as possible so we don't ship it to you.
